I've been on a space clearing binge the past couple of weeks. That included moving out hundreds of pounds of books. It was a great exercise in letting go of books that were no longer me. I don't know about you but I want the books on my shelves to be a reflection of who I am today otherwise I feel like I'm stuck in the past, not allowing new books and experiences to come my way.
This exercise took me to finally admitting that cooking and beautiful picture recipe books were no longer my interests. I had a hard time letting go of those pretty books of delicious food but this allowed me to move on to things I enjoyed more. So, cooking went to the bottom.
If you're spring cleaning, you can take your books to used book stores and swap 'em out for store credit for when you're ready for a new book. Powell's is one of those place. You can also donate them to the library, pass your beloved books on to your friends, arrange a book swap or give them to neighbors or to shelters. It's a totally freeing experience -- to let go and let new books come into your life.

You're brave. We struggle to clear out our books, even ones that are not currently of interest.
